Enroll by December 9 to access key IHI Forum sessions that will be available On Demand, December 8 - 15

The Canadian Patient Safety Institute is unable to offer the 2009 pan-Canadian webcast of the IHI National Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare as planned.

However, thanks to sponsorship from the Health Quality Council (HQC), Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, HQC has purchased a provincial license that allows anyone in Saskatchewan to view Dr. Donald Berwick's keynote address and the other exceptional presentations that would have been part of the webcast.

The provincial license allows you to view on your computer the IHI's On Demand offering of nine presentations, valued at $395.00 US/person, at no cost. Each video will be available 90 minutes after the live presentation is completed in Orlando Florida beginning on December 8 and all sessions can be accessed until December 15 for you to view as often as you wish.

NEW: See our schedule of live presentations in Florida (EST) and when they will be available for viewing in Saskatchewan (CST). These are the earliest times the presentations can be accessed in Saskatchewan. If you are enrolled to receive the On Demand presentations, you can view them anytime between December 8 and December 15.

Here's how to enroll (by December 9, 2009):

  1. To ensure you do not have to pay the $395 On Demand fee, you must first obtain the passcode you will need to enter when you enroll for the presentations. To get the code, contact the Health Quality Council ( sragush@hqc.sk.ca / (306)668-8810, ext. 113).

  2. You must enroll on the IHI website to obtain access to the On Demand IHI Forum presentations when they are made available. You can enroll anytime between now and December 7, 2009. At the On Demand web page, click on the "Enroll" tab and the "Enroll now" link near the top of the page.

    • DO NOT enter the Saskatchewan passcode on the first page that comes up ("How did you hear about this event?" page). Check a box that describes how you heard about the On Demand presentations, and click "Next step".

    • On the "Select attendee" page, click on one of the buttons (either "I am enrolling myself", or "I am enrolling someone other than myself") that appear on left side of the page, and then click "Next step".

    • On the Select Rate page, enter the passcode for Saskatchewan and click "Submit". Click "Next step".

    • This page will show that the four keynote and 5 special interest keynote sessions are checked and that you are enrolled at the "Saskatchewan attendee rate" and the total cost will be $0.00. If it does not show $0.00, repeat the above steps from the beginning.

    • IMPORTANT LAST STEP: You then have to login if you already have previously registered with the IHI website. If you have not registered, please do so and you will then receive an email from IHI confirming that you are registered for the On Demand presentations.

For more information on the keynote speakers, see the National Forum brochure. To register for the IHI Forum On Demand presentations, visit the IHI website (click on the On Demand link under "21st Annual National Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare" near the top of the IHI homepage), or contact Sheila Ragush at the Health Quality Council: sragush@hqc.sk.ca / (306)668-8810, ext. 113.

Video competition

Videos that were submitted for Canadian content on the cancelled webcast will still be reviewed and the selected videos will instead be featured on the CPSI website and at Canada's Forum on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement which will be held in Toronto in April 2010.

Thank you to sponsors of the provincial license for On Demand presentations of the IHI National Forum, 2009:

In addition to the Health Quality Council, the following sponsors from Saskatchewan are bringing the Forum presentations to you:
