Quality Improvement Consultant (QIC) Program

Quality Improvement Consultant Program is an intense year-long course designed to develop expert-level quality improvement advisor skills in participants.

Expert faculty, including Robert Lloyd from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and advisors from Associates in Process Improvement and Royal Roads University, guide participants through the fundamentals of quality improvement science, and support them as they apply the theory, framework and tools to a hands-on improvement project of their choosing. Participants not only learn it, but live it and lead it.

Participants will develop a strong foundation in Deming's theory of profound knowledge. They will learn about understanding systems and analyzing variation. They also learn about the most effective ways for dealing with change and resistance. Participants will get hands-on experience with a wide variety of improvement science tools and methods.

During the course, participants work on an improvement project, immediately applying what they have learned to real world situations. At the end of the course, participants will have the skills to nurture, coach, and mentor quality improvement, anywhere it's needed. They will learn to see the world with a new lens...the lens of profound knowledge.
