Health care professionals are often concerned about having conversations with patients regarding stopping unnecessary medications. It can be challenging to remove or reduce medications patients believe are helpful, even if the evidence shows that they are harmful. Most research about patient expectations on reducing unnecessary medication (or deprescribing) is based on focus groups which pose hypothetical questions and not drawn from patients who actually have lived experience with de-prescribing.
In this webinar, Dr. Christian Helfrich, Core Investigator at the Seattle-Denver Center of Innovation for Veteran-Centered and Value-Driven Care, and Research Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Public Health on Wednesday, March 18 at 12 p.m. ET., will discuss findings about patient experiences with reducing unnecessary inhaled corticosteroid medications for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
